Who are the finest Under-23 players in Serie A? Who has shone the brightest in the Italian top flight so far this season?
Sebastian Giovinco is in 8th position. The very fact that the ‘Atomic Ant’ is not sitting at the very top of this list should be enough to tell you that he is not having the best of times so far this season. Juve coach Ciro Ferrara may not be interested in giving the kid a chance, even when all his other trequartista options are unavailable, but make no mistake there is no other young player anywhere in the world with as much talent in their boots as little Giovinco has in his size 4′s. Dino Zoff, who’s seen a player or two pass his way over the years, reckons he has superior fantasy and technical ability than Alessandro Del Piero. Which begs the question, why isn’t he playing more regularly?
Full list here.

When the time eventually comes for Sebastian Giovinco to reflect on his footballing career, you would expect that 7 August 2008 will bring back special memories for the Torinese.
It was the day when the Juventus midfielder announced this potential to the world at the 2008 Olympic Games by showcasing an array of his footballing skills. However, his pièce de résistance came in the 41st minute when he received the ball 30 yards from goal. Taking one touch to control it, another to tee himself up, he then hit a rising left-footed shot which flew into the top left hand corner of the net.

If on Saturday it was Lorenzo Ariaudo who brought Casiraghi’s Under 21 squad back on track, on Tuesday it was the turn of Sebastian Giovinco to score for Italy and equalize against Holland.
The Atomic Ant played a great match and even went close to scoring a second time. The Orange were the first to score with De Jong but Seba equalized at the end of the first half fixing the score on a 1-1 draw which is a very important result for the azzurrini.
Giovinco had a very good match and was clearly the inspiration of the team coached by Pierluigi Casiraghi. Claudio Marchisio also had a good match expressing himself with the skills of a veteran notwithstanding his young age but this is nothing new as the young midfielder has already become an important point of reference in Ranieri’s squad.
